We Build Basement Walkouts. That's the Whole Point.
Specialists in complete basement walkouts and walkout drainage for homeowners across the Wasatch Front and Wasatch Back. Built for decades, not just completion day.
Specialists Show It in the Details
There's no point telling you we do quality work. Every contractor says that. Here's what we actually do differently, and why it matters for a walkout.
Why We Only Build Walkouts
A walkout touches excavation, engineering, the foundation, drainage, waterproofing, stairs, the door, electrical and finish. Doing all of that well, in the right order, takes focus. We aren't a general contractor who builds the occasional walkout. Walkouts are the work.
Build for Decades, Not Completion Day
A walkout can look great the week it's finished and fail in its third spring. We build for the long run: curing time before backfill where appropriate, waterproofing before the soil goes back, concrete kept out of the drainage, and grading that sends water away.
Drainage Is the Signature
A walkout is a low point beside your basement door. We don't just give water somewhere to go. We build capacity, accessibility, serviceability and redundancy: an accessible catch basin, a reservoir and drain rock where appropriate, and room for a pump where it makes sense.
One Coordinated Project
Engineering connects to excavation. Drainage goes in with the backfill. Stairs, landing slope and door are planned together. When one team owns the whole scope, decisions get made in the right order and nothing falls between trades.
We Know Why Walkout Drains Fail
Small floor-style drains. Sediment from eroding flower beds. Drains nobody can reach. Concrete residue left in the drain bed during construction. Grading that sends the yard into the stairwell. No backup when a storm outruns the drain.
We see these on existing walkouts, and we design every new one to avoid them. A representative system pairs an accessible catch basin of roughly 12 by 12 by 12 inches with a reservoir and drain rock where appropriate, for roughly 75 to 100 gallons of combined passive capacity. No system is failure-proof. Capacity, access and redundancy make failure far less likely.
Why walkout drains fail
The Unglamorous Steps That Matter Most
-
Curing before backfill. We commonly allow about one week of structural wall curing before backfill where appropriate, subject to engineering, concrete, weather and project conditions.
-
Waterproofing before soil goes back. It's one layer of the water-management system, working with drainage and grading.
-
Clean drainage from day one. Concrete residue in a drain bed reduces performance before the walkout is even finished. We keep it out.
-
Stairs people use. Where feasible and compliant, about a 7.5-inch rise and a 12-inch-plus run, with landings sloped to drain.
-
Engineering and permits, every time they apply. Structural work follows project-specific engineering and the requirements of your jurisdiction.
Qualified Projects, Clear Expectations
A walkout is a structural decision in the $17K to $40K+ range. We would rather set honest expectations early than waste your time.
- 01
Straight Talk on Cost
Complete walkouts typically start in the upper teens. We say that early so nobody spends money designing a project that will not fit the budget.
- 02
Feasibility Before Promises
Utilities, access, dirt, configuration, foundation, groundwater and grading get checked before a proposal, not discovered mid-dig.
- 03
Complete-Scope Proposals
Engineering, permits, excavation, haul-off, walls, drainage, door, electrical, railings and restoration are spelled out line by line.

Honest Advice on Repairs
If your existing walkout only needs drainage work, we say so. If it needs a rebuild, we show you why.
